ABOUT

A physician's approach to skin.

I didn't set out to become an esthetician. I trained as a physician in Colombia, specializing in ophthalmology and oculoplastic surgery — years spent studying skin at its most demanding: the tissue around the eyes, where precision isn't optional and results are immediate and visible.

When I moved to California, I made a deliberate choice: rather than practicing medicine here, I became a licensed esthetician and built Aura Skinfit around a simple belief — that skincare should be trained, not guessed at. Every protocol we offer is physician-designed, drawing on that clinical background, and delivered entirely within the scope of California esthetics. No shortcuts, no overselling, no procedures dressed up as something they're not. Just treatments built the way I was trained to build them: methodically, with a reason behind every step.

I opened the San Clemente studio to bring that approach somewhere personal — a small, unhurried space where skin fitness is treated the way any real fitness plan should be consistent, individualized, and focused on results you can see over time. Whether it's your first facial or your fiftieth, I want you to leave knowing exactly why we did what we did, and what it's building toward.

EDUCATION & BACKGROUND

Colombian physician. California esthetician.

My medical degree is from Universidad El Bosque in Bogotá, with general ophthalmology training at Universidad Javeriana. From 2000 to 2002, I completed a clinical fellowship in oculoplastic and reconstructive eye surgery at the Storm Eye Institute, Medical University of South Carolina, then spent the years after 2003 in ophthalmic clinical research and medical education across California, working with leading eye care companies and presenting at international scientific meetings.

Esthetics licensure came in 2019; Aura Skinfit opened in 2021. I attend esthetics education conferences every year to keep protocols current with the latest treatments and technology.

SCOPE OF PRACTICE

Valentina is a licensed physician in Colombia. In California, she practices solely as a licensed esthetician, and every service at Aura Skinfit is performed strictly within the California esthetician scope of practice.

No medical treatments, prescriptions, or diagnoses are performed at Aura Skinfit.

APROACH

Scientific method. Personalized plan.

Every client begins with a structured skin assessment: history, concerns, current routine, and measurable baseline.

Protocols are chosen — and adjusted — based on how your skin actually responds, not a fixed menu.

Client education is part of every visit. You leave knowing what changed, why, and what to do at home.

NOT SURE WHERE TO START?

Book a complimentary skin assessment.

We'll assess your skin, map your goals, and recommend the tier that fits.
